About Us
The Gateway Torres Strait Resort is perfectly located for your Torres Strait visit. The resort is located within Wasaga Village on Horn Island, it's just a brief 10 minute walk from the wharf area. There is a ferry service connecting Horn Island and Thursday Island. We offer a complimentary shuttle bus service from Horn Island Airport or the wharf to our resort for our in-house guests. Additionally, the resort is perfect for conferences providing both accommodation and conference facilities with food and beverage catering. Moreover, guests can unwind and relax in our swimming pool too.
Accommodation
Gateway Torres Strait Resort features 22 ground floor unit rooms, all equipped with air conditioning, an ensuite bathroom, and essential cooking amenities like a fridge-freezer, microwave, and toaster. Our rates include return transfers from the airport or wharf, a daily continental breakfast, as well as free museum entry.

Museum
The Torres Strait Heritage Museum, situated within the resort's grounds in Horn Island, is a privately owned and funded museum showcasing various facets of the region's history. It houses a diverse collection, including over 400 veteran's photos alongside maps, diagrams, personal items, and diaries from wartime. Additionally, displays highlight the Torres Strait's pearl diving era, featuring cultured and genuine pearls, model pearl luggers, and original diving helmets. The museum also offers insights into Torres Strait People's history, encompassing Indigenous art, artifacts, culture, religion, myths, and legends. Visitors can watch historical films depicting subjects such as the pearling industry, World War Two, and Torres Strait Islander culture. The museum serves as an excellent complement to the 'In Their Steps' tour of Horn Island, providing a personal view of the tour's sites.
